What is the Nedbank Bursary all about?

The Nedbank bursary supports undergraduate and honors students eager to study but can’t afford fees. The Nedbank external bursary aims to help these students achieve their dreams and degrees. In addition to addressing South Africa's scarce skills shortages in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) field and green economy skills.

Requirements for The Nedbank Bursary Program

  • Be a South African resident

  • Must be accepted into any university or university of technology in South Africa

  • Be in financial need

  • Must have obtained a 65% average  in the year you’re applying for the Nedbank external bursary either in grade 12 or university

  • 65% average for all required subjects that match the degree you intend to study at your chosen university

  • Unfortunately, mathematics literacy will not be considered for this bursary program

Documentation Needed When Applying for the Nedbank Bursary

  • A certified copy of your South African identity card/document.

  • Your most recent academic transcript. If you’re in Grade 12, you need to use your grade 11 end-year results and grade 12 June marks. If you are in university, you’ll need to provide your grade 12 year-end results and current mid-year university marks. If you’re in your second year at university, your previous year's result and current mid-year marks will be used.

  • Financial checks affidavit must be signed by your parents or guardian along with you as the applicant.

How to Apply for Nedbank Bursary?

The application for the Nedbank external bursary is strictly online. If you are interested in applying for this bursary you’ll need to have the following documents ready:

  • Written consent that they understand that personal information will be requested and given to third parties who will assist the Nedbank Educational Trust with verifying income (the Financial Checks Affidavit).

  • Completed income and expenditure statement for the applicant's combined household income.

  • Certified copies of Identity document(s), most recent payslip(s), letter(s) of employment, not older than three months, of each parent or guardian.

  • Proof of income, home loan account statement, and city/town council rates and taxes statement (not older than three months), if parents or guardians are informal traders or hawkers.

  •  IRP5, IT3, and IT12 forms for the past two years, if parents or guardians are earning commission only.

  • An official pension slip or bank statement (not older than three months), if parents or guardians receive income in the form of pension/grant/maintenance/rent/interest from investments.

  • Parents/ guardians’ and applicant’s latest three months' bank statements.
