Special Conditions          

·         The position of Multipurpose Room Assistant is interchangeable with Cold Store Assistant.

·         Must be able to handle hazard chemicals such as Ammonia and Ethylene gas.

·         40 hours 6-day week

Physical Requirements:

·         Ability to work in a cold environment (5 degree Celsius).

·         Must be physically fit.

·         Job Purpose       

·         To maintain and provide an efficient and effective cold store service and facility.       

This post reports to COLD STORE SUPERVISOR

Key Responsibility Areas             

·         Loads and removes produce from cold store by counting produce and signing with relevant comarket agents staff and other market users.

·         Undertakes stock audits and inspects quality of produce prior to loading into rooms.

·         Checks for mechanical defects and reports these defects to the Supervisor.

·         Removes decaying produce to markets skip (dumping) area.

·         Undertakes the filing of documentation and record-keeping.

·         Allocates rooms to market agents and other users.

·         Undertakes cleaning of cold store complex.

·         Provides relief to the Supervisor.

Essential Requirements

·         Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent.

·         Valid Reach Truck Certificate.

·         1 Year relevant experience.

·         Computer Literacy.
