The Casual Cashier will support customer service at the point of sale while helping to provide a positive shopping experience.

The successful applicant will be responsible for processing customer transactions accurately on the Dis-Chem operating system while following company policies and standard operating procedures.

What You Will Do

As a Casual Cashier, your responsibilities will include:

• Following Dis-Chem customer service policies and procedures.
• Establishing professional relationships with customers.
• Reporting customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management.
• Meeting the required customer turnover hourly rate.
• Staying informed about current sales and promotions.
• Ensuring that customers and colleagues are not exposed to unnecessary risks.
• Following Dis-Chem's 5-star communication principles.
• Taking responsibility for cash flow.
• Ensuring that line voids and price changes are approved and signed by the supervisor.
• Processing authorised merchandise exchanges and customer returns.
• Processing customer purchases and receiving payments.
• Accepting cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons and other approved payment methods.
• Processing loyalty cards and applicable accelerator partner cards.
• Placing cash in the drop safe according to Dis-Chem procedures.
• Keeping your cashier code and password secure and ensuring that they are only used by you.
• Ensuring that outgoing stock, items and scripts are scanned and paid for.
• Keeping money safely secured inside the till.
• Handling daily takings confidentially.
