About the Opportunity

The General Worker will provide practical support to ensure that tourism facilities and operational areas at Addo Elephant National Park remain clean, safe, functional and ready for visitors.

The role combines general maintenance, cleaning, grounds work, equipment handling and support for tourism operations.

What You Will Do

Key responsibilities include:

• Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in public areas, ablution facilities, offices, campsites and accommodation areas.
• Cleaning and maintaining chalets, huts, kitchens and guest facilities.
• Collecting and disposing of refuse.
• Sweeping areas, clearing vegetation, removing litter and maintaining pathways.
• Assisting with painting and minor maintenance work.
• Reporting faults and damaged infrastructure.
• Loading, unloading and transporting equipment, supplies, linen and other materials.
• Setting up and maintaining facilities for visitors and tourism activities.
• Keeping tools, equipment and work areas clean, safe and secure.
• Assisting tourism staff during busy periods.
• Preparing facilities before and after guest arrivals and departures.
• Assisting with stock handling and movement of supplies.
• Following occupational health and safety, environmental and organisational procedures.
• Providing professional and courteous assistance to visitors.
• Assisting during emergencies according to supervisor instructions.
• Performing other reasonable duties assigned by the supervisor.

What You Need to Succeed

Applicants must have:

• Grade 12 (Matric), NCV Level 4 certificate or equivalent.
• 1–2 years' practical work experience in general work, tourism or hospitality.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Good interpersonal and customer-service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to follow instructions, policies and OHS procedures.
• Good time-management and organisational skills.
• Basic knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety.
• Willingness to work weekends, public holidays and varying shifts.
