WHERE YOU CAN GET YOUR 2025 MATRIC RESULTS

Matrics will be able to find out their 2025 marks via a plethora of options, with over 1 million learners getting their results.

Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube will announce the 2025 results on 12 January 2026, with individual access from 13 January.

Over 1 million South Africans wrote their Grade 12 2025 NSC exams across 9,400 examination centres, according to Umalusi.

The candidates sat for examinations distributed among four assessment bodies and four qualifications. National Senior Certificate (NSC) candidates accounted for 90.3% of the total number of candidates.

The 2025 matriculants will aim to achieve an overall pass rate above the 87.3% seen in 2024, which was the highest ever recorded in South Africa, although questions remain over the pass mark.

Testing for the 2025 Matric year has not been without controversy, with an examination leak detected involving roughly 40 pupils.

Markers were alarmed that answers in an English exam were closely matched with the marking guides. An investigation revealed a leak of papers for English, Maths and Physical Sciences.

Two Department of Basic Education (DBE) officials are believed to be behind the leak, with one having a child writing the matric exams. The two officials have been suspended.

Although the leak called into question the checks and balances at the DBE, it said that the leak was contained to just 40 students, who make up a minuscule percentage of the over 1 million who wrote.

With millions waiting to receive their marks, they have several options to see if they passed or failed, with a matric vital in gaining employment in South Africa.
