VACANCY ADVERTISEMENT FOR EMPLOYMENT OF 30 SEASONAL LIFEGUARDS FOR FESTIVE SEASON 2025 & EASTER HOLIDAYS 2026

Mbhashe Municipality is a Category B Municipality compromising Elliotdale, Willowvale, and Dutywa and surrounding rural areas in terms of the Municipality structures Act. It is situated in the North Eastern Cape is looking for suitable qualified, motivated, and committed individuals to fill the following position:

DURATION

The municipality seeks to employ temporarily thirty (30) Seasonal Lifeguards for peak seasons. The seasonal lifeguards will only work during peak seasons — which are Easter Holidays & Festive Season.

COASTAL BEACHES TO BE GUARDED

Seasonal Lifeguards will be chiefly responsible for provision of life rescue services to the following coastal beaches of Mbhashe:

 Qhora Beach - Ward 22 Gatyana

 Mpame Beach - Ward 19 Xhora

 Lubanzi Beach - Ward 19 Xhora

 Mbolompo Beach - Ward 19 Xhora

 Bulungula Beach •Ward 19 - Xhora  Nkanya Beach - Ward 32 Xhora  Cwebe Beach - Ward 20 Xhora  Haven Beach - Ward 20 Xhora  Dwesa Beach - Ward 29 Gatyana  Tenza Beach - Ward 22 Gatyana

REMUNERATION:

The municipality will remunerate seasonal lifeguards according to the following rates:

        Lifeguard — R400 per day

        Squad Leader — R600 per day

REQUIREMENTS

*    Lifeguard Award Certificate issued by Lifesaving South Africa will serve as an added advantage

*    Must be able to read and write.

*    Be physically fit and be able to do physical fitness test.

*    Preference will be given to those who are residing along the coast of Mbhashe.

*    Proof of residence must be attached.  Must be 18 years and above.

DUTIES

The appointed seasonal lifeguards will be undertaking the following duties to promote and enhance safety of beachgoers who are excursionists, domestic and international tourists:

       Supervising swimmers

       Spotting of hazards and preventing accidents

       Providing advice on water safety (monitoring of waves)

       Controlling unruly behaviour amongst beachgoers

       Administering of First Aid which includes CPR in case of accidents and drowning incidents.

       More importantly, oversee and guard municipal life rescue equipment against toss and theft.

NB: The lifeguards must be prepared to be assigned and stationed at any beach amongst the ten (10) beaches between Willowvale and Elliotdale. Moreover, the number of days to be guarded will be determined by the municipality prior commencement of employment.
