The successful candidate will support a supervisor with maintenance, repair and new work on water and sewer networks, water reservoirs, informal settlements and specialised water and sanitation services across Ekurhuleni.

What You Will Do

The main responsibilities include:

• Assist with maintenance, repair and new work on water and sewer networks.
• Excavate using a pick, shovel or other appropriate tools.
• Prepare beds for laying reticulation pipes.
• Backfill excavated areas and perform compaction using a shovel and compactor.
• Enter sewer pumps to remove rags and foreign objects and assist with cleaning.
• Follow all required safety standards.
• Assist with general handy work and routine maintenance.
• Operate and maintain plant, mechanical equipment, tools and work sites safely.
• Clean workplaces, ablution facilities and offices after work.
• Comply with relevant legislation, municipal by-laws, policies and procedures.
