About the Opportunity
The successful candidates will work under broad instructions to provide basic horticultural and environmental-related maintenance and assist with the construction of landscapes as instructed.
The position requires practical horticultural knowledge and the ability to operate equipment such as brush cutters and lawnmowers.
What You Will Do
Key duties include:
- Weeding sites and designated areas.
- Planting and watering plants.
- Pruning and using hand tools.
- Applying fertilisers and chemicals according to instructions.
- Preparing soil.
- Loading and unloading materials.
- Packing and stacking.
- Counting stock.
- Applying basic plant identification.
- Identifying weeds and alien plants.
- Identifying indigenous and exotic plants.
- Applying water-wise principles.
- Assisting with decorations and floral displays.
- Monitoring areas for damage and theft.
- Assisting with hard landscaping such as stepping stones, gabions, stone packing, poles, water features and retaining walls.
- Assisting with cement mixing.
- Attending SHE representative meetings.
- Performing asset management duties.
