The Department of Agriculture (DoA) is inviting applications for its 2027 Bursary Awards.

The bursaries are available to qualifying applicants who are pursuing or planning to further their studies in selected agricultural fields during the 2027 academic year.

The bursary will cover tuition fees, accommodation, study materials, meals and a monthly allowance. The programme is aimed particularly at previously disadvantaged and economically disadvantaged individuals, including people from rural and underprivileged communities.

Do You Qualify?

Applicants must be South African citizens and must be pursuing or planning to pursue one of the specific fields listed in the advertisement.

• Diploma in Food Technology

Advanced Diploma and Honours Fields

Important Notes for Applicants

South African Citizenship

Applicants must be South African citizens.

Only Listed Fields Will Be Considered

Applications for fields of study that are not listed in the advertisement will not be considered.

University Acceptance Letters and Results

Applicants who are not yet in possession of their university acceptance letters or results may still submit their applications while waiting for the outstanding documents.

The advertisement states that outstanding documents must be submitted within three days of the release of Grade 12 results in January 2027.

No Late Applications

No late application forms will be considered.

Number of Bursaries

The Department reserves the right to determine the total number of bursaries awarded for the academic year based on the available budget.

When Will Applicants Hear Back?

Communication will be limited to successful applicants.

If you have not received communication from the Department within 14 days after the release of Grade 12 results, and after the National Bursary Committee has finalised the selection process, you should consider your application unsuccessful.
