Do You Qualify?

Applicants must have an appropriate recognised academic qualification, such as:

• Senior Certificate
• National Senior Certificate
• National Senior Certificate Vocational

What You Will Do

The duties depend on whether you are appointed as an Examination Assistant or Quality Assurer.

Examination Assistant

Examination Assistants working at examination district and Head Offices may be required to:

• Receive examination scripts
• Check and control scripts
• Scan scripts
• Pack scripts for marking
• Archive scripts after marking
• Check the number of scripts and marksheets
• Check scripts according to batch, subject, paper and examination session
• Address discrepancies
• Prepare marking centre files
• Assist with dispatching scripts to marking venues
• Receive and archive marked scripts

The work requires candidates to be able to work under tight deadlines and pressure.

Quality Assurer

Quality Assurers working at marking centres may be required to:

• Receive and control examination scripts
• Distribute scripts to marking teams
• Check the number of scripts and marksheets
• Assist with scanning and controlling scripts
• Check that all questions have been marked
• Check that marks have been added correctly
• Verify that marks are correctly transferred to scripts and marksheets
• Identify and address discrepancies
• Reconcile scripts after marking
• Arrange scripts for indexed archival
