The University of the Free State (UFS) is inviting applications for a Permanent General Worker: Sports Ground (Post Level 18) position at its Qwaqwa Campus. Minimum Requirements

To qualify, applicants must meet the following inherent requirements:

  • Grade 10 (NQF Level 2) – proof required
  • Valid Code EB/B driver’s license – copy required
  • Relevant experience related to sports ground maintenance and gardening duties

 

Added Advantage:

  • At least 1 year of relevant experience
  • Experience operating gardening equipment and machinery
  • Knowledge of safety procedures

 

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Cleaning and maintaining assigned sports grounds
  • Operating gardening equipment such as brush cutters, blowers, push mowers, and precision cutters
  • Marking sports fields
  • Irrigation maintenance
  • Trimming trees, mowing lawns, and maintaining athletic fields
  • Applying fertilizer and pesticides according to procedure
  • Lifting and moving heavy equipment when required
  • Operating a motor vehicle or tractor when necessary
  • Following safety regulations and promoting workplace safety

 

Salary and Benefits

The annual salary package ranges from R179,773.45 to R212,608.62, depending on qualifications and experience.
