Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting materials and personnel to and from different destinations while ensuring that the vehicle, load and crew are handled safely and in accordance with applicable requirements.

What You Need to Succeed

Applicants must have:

• Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
• Valid Code EC1 driver's licence
• Ability to pass the Rand Water K53 driving test
• At least 2 years' experience driving a heavy vehicle
• Valid Public Drivers Permit (PDP)
• Previous experience operating a heavy passenger vehicle will be an added advantage.

What You Will Do

• Ensure goods are correctly balanced when loaded.
• Check that the vehicle is roadworthy.
• Check that the vehicle is not overloaded.
• Ensure loads are properly secured and balanced.
• Check the correct operation of tie-down and lifting equipment.
• Report vehicle defects.
• Clean the vehicle.
• Assist with tree felling.
• Operate cranes and slings.
• Provide relief for other drivers in EMS and assist with other driving duties.
• Complete the vehicle log book.
• Check documentation against the load.
• Take responsibility for the welfare and safety of the crew.
• Take responsibility for the vehicle and load while travelling.
• Ensure dumping takes place at legal sites.
• Ensure compliance of equipment.
