The South African National Parks (SANParks) is inviting applications for 2 Cook/Cleaner positions at Thutong Environmental Centre in Marakele National Park. This fixed-term contract offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with cooking and cleaning experience to work in one of South Africa's premier conservation organisations.

The successful candidates will support the Walk and Learn on the Wild Side (WALOW) programme by preparing meals and maintaining the environmental learning centre.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Relevant experience preparing meals for large groups
  • Experience cleaning accommodation facilities accommodating 60 or more people
  • Basic knowledge of occupational health and safety
  • Good communication skills
  • Good time management skills
  • Ability to work well with children
  • Customer-focused attitude

Duties and Responsibilities

Successful candidates will:

  • Prepare meals for the Walk and Learn on the Wild Side (WALOW) programme
  • Ensure meals are served according to approved menus and schedules
  • Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, pantry and equipment
  • Assist with stock control of food and cleaning materials
  • Clean accommodation facilities, dining areas, kitchen, passages, ablutions and surrounding areas
  • Follow SANParks health and safety regulations
  • Assist with other duties at the environmental learning centre when required
