The educational requirements differ according to the grade:
Applicants must have successfully completed an appropriate Basic Life Support (BLS) course that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a Basic Ambulance Assistant (BAA).
Applicants must have successfully completed Intermediate Life Support (ILS) that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as an Ambulance Emergency Assistant (AEA).
Applicants must meet the relevant professional registration requirements:
Candidates who are not yet in possession of the required registration may also apply, subject to the conditions stated in the official advert.
Such candidates will only be considered for appointment if proof of application for registration and proof of payment of the prescribed registration fees are submitted on or before the day of the interview.
No experience is required after registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a BAA or AEA.
